The Joy of Life!

Life. A gift. An amazing opportunity to be alive, enjoying the beauty and circumstances that flow from all that surrounds. A chance to serve. laugh. give. receive. impact. Living in the present. Trusting and being filled with peace. TRUE peace from within. Past events and memories not to consume. Future and forbearing left to be discovered as they melt into the present. Thankfulness for this moment.

Proverbs 3:5

Proverbs 3:5 is a verse that I have known all my life, yet recently it has become alive to me and I believe fits this blog ever so well.

Constant motion...all around me. I am having a great summer filled with activity. This weekend, on top of work, my Grandparents, sister and Aunt were here. We celebrated my Grandpa's 80th B-day and had an open house for our new abode. I also went downtown too see a beautiful display of sidewalk chart art. This is just the weekend. Last week, a dear friend visited from out of state. This week is a festival and then I leave for out east and oh yeah...did I forget to mention that my sister is doing an inner city mission event this week and I can't wait to help! It's for kids! I just got back for Canada and after out east I must prepare for Europe!

Each one of these events are amazing and could make for a memorable summer. They are all swished together though and I just keep going. Canada has caused me to realize that I need to reflect more...instead of just getting caught up in the excitement and then moving on. When a person doesn't reflect, they don't change or grow or learn much. Bad. In addition, I believe God is showing me that I need to slow down. This became clear when I had the opportunity to go to Africa this fall. But I am not ready. I came home to grow and make connections and that will not be finished by the fall. My heart longs to go, but I must stay. I think this running life style…although fun…makes me “run away” from reflecting, growing and focusing on areas in my life that need improvement.
