The Joy of Life!

Life. A gift. An amazing opportunity to be alive, enjoying the beauty and circumstances that flow from all that surrounds. A chance to serve. laugh. give. receive. impact. Living in the present. Trusting and being filled with peace. TRUE peace from within. Past events and memories not to consume. Future and forbearing left to be discovered as they melt into the present. Thankfulness for this moment.

A glimpse

There are so many topics to talk about...both fun and serious. Where to begin? I love life! I can't be thankful enough for all the goodness in my life. Family, friends, freedom of speech, education, a job, a car, green grass, all the water I need and want...

We have officially moved! Yay! And really I am handling it far better than I thought I would. Our new home is peaceful, comfortable and welcoming...and the backyard is spectacular with all the wild life, from little ducks and birds to turtles and muskrats. I love sitting out back and just soaking it in.

There's also great places to run around here...pathways through neighborhoods and around other little ponds (some with fountains).

I cooked today and it was wonderful. Moving makes it difficult to find cooking items and food supplies decrease. Finally today there was more food in the house and we had company which is a great excuse to cook up a great meal...from cinnamon rolls and banana bread to mashed potatoes...satisfying. Love it.

On a more serious note, I have been studying humanism lately. It surprises me how much my world view fits into this philosophy. Do I hold to it? No! But I see how my schooling and the society around me is influenced more than they realize. Humanism fits in with postmodernism. I do believe in the importance of questioning, even to doubt. However, a philosophy must hold true both internally and externally and although part of humanism might fit, when you dig deep there are inconsistencies. The further I learn about humanism, the more I realize numberous friends believe in and follow its teachings. Sadly, religion has deeply wounded many, and I consider this to be one reason the public turns to humanism. However, there should be, and is, freedom to question and doubt within religion and if the religion is true…the seekers discover the answers. No fear...only freedom and peace.
